The Millennium Wrestling Federation is proud to announce it's partnership with the American Wrestling Association, becoming it's New England affiliate effective immediately.  All future MWF matches and events will be sanctioned not only by the MWF Board of Directors but also the American Wrestling Association of New England.

What does all of this mean?  To the wrestling fans, it brings a piece of history back to the Boston area.  Long before the McMahon family brought wrestling to Boston, the AWA was our prominent promotion.  Paul Bowser was the Boston promoter through the 1950's and had several huge events at Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox.  The AWA was brought to the mid-west in the 1950's, establishing itself as it's own brand outside of the National Wrestling Alliance in 1960 by Verne Gagne and his associate Wally Karbo.  Gagne existed as the top regional promoter in the midwest until the mid-1980's, when, like every other promoter in the industry, he was faced by the realities of cable television and promoter expansion. In 1985, the AWA debuted on ESPN.  The AWA went dark in the early 1990's until it was reborn in the late 1990's.

The Millennium Wrestling Federation was founded in 2001 by Dan Mirade and Neil Manolian, inspired by the work of the late "Boston Bad Boy" Tony Rumble.  The MWF has presented events in the greater Boston area since then featuring some of the biggest superstars in the history of professional wrestling and some of the best hungry, young athletes in the northeastern part of the United States.

In addition to the positives the MWF/AWA association brings to the fans, it's also provides great opportunity for the superstars of the Millennium Wrestling Federation.  The American Wrestling Association has affiliates all over the United States, Canada and Japan.  This will allow some of our talent to travel outside of New England and showcase their talents all over the country and beyond.  It will also allow several fresh faces from different areas to come to the MWF and face top competition.

EDITORS NOTE:  The AWA group that promotes live events in New Hampshire is the All-Star Wrestling Association.  They are not sanctioned or affiliated with the American Wrestling Association or Millennium Wrestling Federation.  They operate as their own separate entity.
